Autumn Saturday

Sydney autumn light shines soft and golden; a nice change from the direct, overhead, hide-no-flaws summer sunshine. Surry Hills thrives in this light; it’s brick buildings and hidden alcoves glow.  I lived in Surrey, BC (Canada) for most of my life. It was named after Surrey, England as it reminded one of the founders of his native home. Surry Hills in Sydney was named after a farm in Surrey, England.  (Somewhere along the line, they dropped the ‘e’.  I am a bit of a fan of connections, so visiting Surry Hills makes me feel a little more ‘at home’. Here are mix of Instagram and SLR photos from a Saturday afternoon walk a couple of weeks back. We checked out a few shops at the top of the hill, then explored a fun rooftop terrace market, complete with balloons!
