Roman Architecture

What's a visit to Rome without a photo or two of some Roman columns!?

Florence, Italy

The Tuscan sky gets a lot of attention, and for good reason. Those clouds hanging over the Fiume Arno are just magical.

Vernazza Village

Vernazza - Cinque Terre - Italy

I finally got organized, and have printed and scanned the Holga shots from Europe. These shots are from Vernazza, the second village in the Cinque Terre lineup.

I was excited to see these pictures... the color in the shots is exactly how I remembered it on the day... if that makes sense at all!

Sky

Feb/10 - Wintery sky over White Rock Beach. Found this lost neg in my files... forgot I had even taken this shot. I love the cloud formation... I'm sensing a new obsession... clouds! I've been staring up at their pillowy softness for a while now.... as well, I've seen some really cool shots on Etsy... so will have to give it a shot!!

New York Highline

New York - Highline - Both my travel companion and I had read about the Highline in design magazines, had wanted to visit it, and ended up stumbling across it as we exited the Meatpacking District. It was an elevated train line that they are in the process of converting into a landscaped elevated walkway. It's very cool... but I only grabbed a couple of shots with my Holga, as we were in a hurry to get to the airport. (Turns out we were both hours early for the airport, so could have spent more time here. Next time...)

Sidewalks of New York

New York - January/10 - The second roll of Holga film went slightly better than the first. I tried out black and white film... and the shots kind of turned out like 1900s NY... kind of fun!

New York - Holga

New York - January/10 - I had read about Holga cameras in a few places... and thought it looked like fun, a chance to view the world in a different way. A $30 toy camera that uses medium format film. I thought New York would be a great place to try out the new camera... though I should have practiced with it before I left. This cheap camera leaves a lot of room for error... back falling off, button for Bulb/Normal setting easily bumped, foam for holding film tight can come loose, forgetting to take the lens cap off, not having it on the right setting: Sunlight vs. Cloud. All of these things can and did happen on my first roll of color film. These are the only two shots that turned out. The rest are a mess of light leaks, unexposed film, messy film due to foam being rolled up inside.
