Leaving, On a Jet Plane

Paris, Nice, Cinque Terre, Florence, Rome... it's finally the eve of our European adventure!!!! The road here has been bumpy and downright mean... getting ready for a vacation sometimes feels like you've been through a war! However, we fly Vancouver to Paris at noon tomorrow, and I am finally feeling ready to go. A vacation has never been more welcomed.

I cannot wait for fresh croissants, cafe au lait, pain de chocolat... wandering Parisian streets, soaking up the sun in Nice, hiking in Cinque Terre, exploring Tuscany and getting lost in ancient history in Rome.

Watch this space... because I am going to have lot's of photos to share! Till the end of June... Donna

More Feet

April 2010 - Can't decide which shot I like more, but do I need to choose!?

Who, me?

April 2010 - People do photo shoots in the bathroom all the time, don't they!? Hey - if the light is right...

Baby J - Card

Baby announcement... special thanks to some friends who allowed me to copy their own baby card for this one!

Practically Perfect

July 2009 - Just realized I've not posted these baby pics yet. Was waiting for the baby announcements to be handed out before I put the pictures up. Well... I think they went out a while ago now...

Cuppa

Here's to 6 years!!
Wow! 'Time flies when you're having fun'... or maybe it's more a case of 'life is what happens while you're making other plans'. At any rate, I've now been working from home for 6 years. It certainly has had it's trying times... house construction for two years, followed by road works - I think the road outside my house was ripped up a total number of 8 times! However, the good certainly outweighs the bad. I'm not a morning person, so I can start the day in my pjs if I want. I don't have to put on a good face for colleagues! I can work surrounded by my own things. I've worked in a number of depressing offices... beige carpets with even beige-er walls!! I even worked in an old tanning studio that was converted into office space. Nothing kills your creative instincts more than hospital green walls and no windows to the outside.

So it's six years since I've worked from home, designing swimming pools. I get to work quietly with no odd collegues breathing down my back and microwaving stinky lunches! For a change, I do get to travel to various pool projects around BC. And sometimes in the afternoon, when the sun is shining through my south-facing windows... I am inspired to do a mini-photo shoot with food, flowers or some funky object. Or have an afternoon tea party for one. How fun is that!?

Sky

Feb/10 - Wintery sky over White Rock Beach. Found this lost neg in my files... forgot I had even taken this shot. I love the cloud formation... I'm sensing a new obsession... clouds! I've been staring up at their pillowy softness for a while now.... as well, I've seen some really cool shots on Etsy... so will have to give it a shot!!

Happy 7th Anniversary

Happy 7th Anniversary to Dustin and Tracey today. I can't believe 7 years has passed so quickly... I remember shooting the wedding like it was yesterday - but it was actually back in the days of my old Pentax camera! So I guess some things have changed! Tracey has an adorable blog, My House of Giggles. She has a knack for transforming vintage furniture into usable pieces for her family home. And LOVE her paintings. I wish I could paint like that... but can't even sketch to save my life... so have to settle for expressing myself technically through photography!

West Village, NYC

West Village, NYC - Fun little neighborhood that you can just imagine living in... tree-lined streets, hidden parks, birds singing and children playing. A little oasis in the midst of chaos.

Guggenheim Museum

Guggenheim Museum, NYC
So much happening lately... I just realized I hadn't posted these pictures from my trip to New York in January. Guggenheim Museum designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. I can't believe it took me 3 trips to New York before I got to see this building. It was a huge highlight. We were a bit disappointed that most levels were closed off because they were doing an installation. However, we did get to have a cappaccino and a macaroon in the cafe looking out over Central Park in the winter sunshine... so got to sit and really absorb the architecture, as it were!
