Men at Work

Pool Builders ~ September.05
This picture makes me laugh... I had been taking pictures of another guy placing shotcrete in a whirlpool. These guys were taking a break, and suggested I take their picture before I left!

Hope-Princeton

BC Mountains ~ June.05
A bit of a grey afternoon on the Hope-Princeton Hwy. Driving back from a pool inspection at Manning Park Resort, I entertained myself with my camera. Got to watch those crazy female drivers!

Mailboxes

Mailboxes ~ August.98
Sea Village is a village of floating houses down at Granville Island. I worked in a floating office next door. The mailboxes for Sea Village were at the top of the ramp down to our office.

Waikiki Beach

Loren @ Waikiki Beach ~ January.01
Poor Loren, anytime he goes anywhere with me, he feels like he has his own paparazzi! "Do you have to take pictures ALL the time?" he is fond of asking. I have to thank him for his considerable patience. Here I snapped him with cross process film at Waikiki beach.

Cold November Day

Dana ~ November.98
Digging deep in the archives for this one! That's what I like about this blog, it brings all my favorite pictures together ;) I like this one of Dana... we took it on a cold November Day at Granville Island. I was shooting black and white pictures for a photo course.. thus the need to shoot in cold temperatures.

What a Dill

Anethum graveolens 'Mammoth' ~ August.05
Did some research on dill and did you know... 'Although dill is native to the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions, the name probably comes from the old Norse word dilla, which means "to lull or put to sleep." In colonial America, children were given dill seeds to chew on during church to keep them quiet, giving rise to the common name "meeting-house seeds." '

I took this picture for Loren, because he loves figs. Sadly they are without their ricotta and honey a la Jamie O... but still tasty anyway.

That Rocks

Beach Rocks ~ August.05
Final fave picture from the still life "series". I collected these rocks from Crescent Beach and they sit on my window sill when they aren't posing for pictures. (I took a series of photos last week at the PNE fair, so watch for them coming soon!)

An Apple a Day

Granny Smith ~ August.05
Here is a play on another picture I took... the pear one! (See below.) I tried out a new film... Reala. I've used it before, but wasn't too impressed. Maybe because it was on the old Pentax. With the Nikon, however - I am duly impressed. I am very happy with the series of still life pictures I shot. Will be sticking with Reala - photography just got more expensive. (Don't even talk to me about digital cameras and saving the cost of film - because I am not listening!)
